English Version

There are always multiple pleasures when there is a Terra Incognita Festival: one sees familiar impassioned progressive music faces, one makes new meetings of followers of the musical kind, one can buy both new or used CD's or DVD's, tee-shirts or other memorabilias of the event or artists who are present during the weekend, etc. But, mainly, there is the privilege to see artists of international reputation in concert and to chat and exchange with them in the lobby of the Chapelle before, between or after the shows. Finally, one lets oneself soak in this festive atmosphere which lasts 3 days!

The 2017 edition of the Festival brought us artists from Europe and from the United States, without forgetting the Canadian and Québécois change of guard of course! The tribute band YESSONGS (Canada) began the festival in beauty Friday by playing to us in its entirety the album with the same title as their band name. Talented musicians with costumes reproducing those of the YES musicians at the time, the effect was convincing enough (yes, but why wigs?). A good start for the festival.

As it is now almost the tradition, we have the joy of having an “acoustic” artist at the beginning of the festival. On Saturday, we were priviledged to discover the virtuoso of acoustic guitar and poet Nathanael LAROCHETTE. This French of origin moved with his parents in Nova Scotia when he was three years old and is now living in Ottawa. He dazzled us by his masterhood of the guitar and charmed us with his humour. You must listen to his album “Earth & Sky”! Then a band from the Québécois change of guard UNIVERSE EFFECTS presented us the majority of their excellent album “In The Haze That Surrounds Us” in addition to the song “Firth Of Fifth” from the band GENESIS. Young people who play like pros! New-Yorker band EDENSONG came back to see us after 7 years of absence and filled our ears with talented music! The flutist of the group is a worthy successor of Ian ANDERSON, as much by his talent as by his imposing presence on stage! The evening finished with the Chattanooga (Tennessee) band GLASS HAMMER which were at their second presence at the festival in 4 years. Effective like always, the group played to us the album “Valkyrie” in its intirety before cossetting us with some of the classics from albums of their back catalogue. Superb show!

Sunday began by another solid acoustic show from Nathanael LAROCHETTE. Then the  Italian group PARADISO LED ORCHI played the Fabio ZUFFANTI-realised album “Il Corponauta”. The musicians gave us our money worth and our ears were filled! Scottish group COMEDY OFF ERRORS then came to play us of the songs of their three albums. It is astonishing to hear the voice of the singer Joe CAIRNEY from a man of this stature and to see him constantly moving unceasingly and mingling with the crowd! Memorable! The evening finished with HÖSTSONATEN, one of multiple Fabio ZUFFANTI projects. With the complicity of keyboardist Luca SCHERANI, the Italian maestro took us on board of a unique and unequaled sound voyage! Young talented musicians, British-Columbia flutist Joanne ROAN and the young Québécois violonist Vicky VACHON as well as a special singing participation by Claire VÉZINA on the song “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” made this concert an amazing event on its own!

Another weekend loaded with music made by impassioned musicians. As bass player John FITZGERALD of COMEDY OF ERRORS said to me; 'one tries to give his best self on  stage when you think of the fans who paid to see us don't deserve less! '. Mission accomplished! A huge thank you goes to Michel BILODEAU who still made some miracles!
