Avec un son proche du groupe américain ENCHANT et une voix qui ressemble beaucoup à celle du chanteur de ce même groupe (Ted LEONARD), on croirait à tort qu’il s’agit d’un autre album de ce groupe! Pourtant le groupe Gallois 25 YARD SCREAMER en est déjà à son 6ième album depuis sa formation en 2003 et leur groupe d’admirateurs dont je fais partie ne cesse de croitre.

«Keep Sending Signals, Pt. 1» débute l’album de façon assez particulière: une ode de toute beauté à un héros de films d’espionnage dont la présentation n’est plus à faire. Une de mes préférées et l’album ne fait que débuter! «Keep Sending Signals, Pt. 2» nous emportent dans le style 25YS: plus besoin de dire à quel point la ressemblance avec le groupe américain mentionné ci-haut est forte. J’aime bien le bout Grunge qui embarque vers 02:40 dans la pièce : ça met un peu de mordant et c’est très bien placé. Une bonne pièce. «Pulse» nous amène plus vers le son du groupe JADIS mais avec des intonations qui sont très semblable à ceux d’ENCHANT. C’est bon mais on a l’impression que c’est un peu trop long et la force de la pièce s’en voit diminuée. «Pages» ressemble à une pièce du groupe ENCHANT avec un léger boost. Bonne, mais probablement une des pièces les moins fortes de l’album. J’aime beaucoup «The Pictures Within» pour le chant Grégorien mêlé à l’intro de la pièce mais aussi parce que Nick JAMES utilise sa voix d’une façon qui lui ressemble un peu plus. «I'm an Explosive» est une bonne pièce de ±7 minutes avec un riff qui rappelle légèrement le groupe PINEAPPLE THIEF. Le chant ne débute que vers 4:20 dans la pièce et, là encore, la voix de monsieur JAMES est plus nuancée que sur les premières chansons. J’aime bien! «A Memory» est une pièce dans le style Hard-Rock avec un beat assez régulier et rien de trop nouveau ou extravagant. Une autre pièce moins forte que les autres. «No Beautiful View» est une jolie ballade qui a des airs de PORCUPINE TREE lors du refrain. Ça termine bien l’album.
Keep Sending Signals plaira aux amateurs de Neo-Prog américain tels qu’ENCHANT ou JADIS. Les pièces sont quelque fois étirées un peu trop, mais ça reste accessible et fait sans fioritures et tout de même agréable à l’écoute.

With a sound closely related to that of the American band ENCHANT and a voice that resembles that of the singer of that same band (Ted LEONARD), you'd think wrongly that it is another album from them! Yet the Welsh band 25 YARD SCREAMER is already in his 6th album since its formation in 2003 and their group of fans, including myself, keeps growing.

"Keep Sending Signals, PT. 1" opens the album in a pretty special way: an ode to a spy hero whose presentation isn’t necessary any more. One of my favorite and the album has only just begun! "Keep Sending Signals, PT. 2" take us in the 25YS style: no need to say how strong the resemblance with the American band mentioned above is. I like the Grunge sound that embarks around 02:40 into the song: it adds some bite and is very well placed. A good song. "Pulse" brings us more to a sound close to the band JADIS but with intonations that are very similar to those of ENCHANT. It's good but it feels a bit too long and the strength of the piece is diminished because of that. “Pages” sounds like a song from ENCHANT but played with a slight boost. Good, but probably one of the weaker parts of the album. I love "The Pictures Within" for the Gregorian chant in the intro of the song but also because Nick JAMES uses his voice in a way that feels a little more like his. "I’m an Explosive" is a good song of ±7 minutes with a riff that slightly recalls the band PINEAPPLE THIEF. The singing begins around 4:20 into the song and, there again, the voice of Sir JAMES is more nuanced than on the first songs. I like it! "A Memory" is a Hard-Rock style song with a quite regular beat and nothing too innovative or extravagant. It also is a bit weaker than the other songs. "No Beautiful View" is a beautiful ballad that has the chorus section reminding us of PORCUPINE TREE. It ends well the album.

Keep Sending Signals will appeal to lovers of American Neo-Prog bands such as ENCHANT or JADIS. The pieces are sometimes stretched a little too much, but it remains accessible and unadorned and enjoyable to listen to.
