Prenant leur nom du titre d'un fameux livre suédois de l'auteure Selma Lagerlöf sorti en 1891, Gösta Berlings Saga est un groupe suédois qui existe depuis 2000 et qui excelle dans le Prog-Rock instrumental. «Sersophane» est leur quatrième album depuis 2006 et démontre une approche vers le Prog-Métal, un peu de Jazz-Rock, un son qui mêle le 'vieux' avec le neuf, et un petit côté sombre de temps à autre. Surprenant!
«Konstruktion» débute l'album: un Prog-Rock un tantinet Symphonique et rythmé qui fonce sans arrêt pendant trois minutes. Ca démarre assez bien. «Sersophane», aussi rythmée que la première pièce mais avec une autre approche, nous en met aussi plein les oreilles: un peu plus sombre mais autant agréable. «Fort Europa» nous amène dans un registre plus Psychédélique et vieux Rock mais demeure avec une touche Prog un peu FLOYDienne qui surprend! Efficace! «Dekonstruktion» nous ramènent à l’ère de KRAUFTWERK, NEU! ou TANGERINE DREAM, voir même VANGELIS! Électro à fond et plaisant à l’écoute! «Channeling The Sixth Extinction» est un Prog-Rock avec un beat lourd et qui a un style un peu sombre. Ça pourrait jouer dans un film d’action ou d’espionnage. J’aime la façon dont ça change de style vers 05:22 pour devenir un Électro-Rock qui tend un peu vers le Psychédélique. Étrange et efficace! «Naturum» ferme la marche de cet album avec une petite ballade à la guitare sèche, un peu Médiéval. Un calmant après l’énergie sorti de la pièce précédente!
Un album surprenant (je me répète mais, bon…) qui ne peut laisser indifférent. En tout cas ca été mon cas!

Taking their name from the title of famous Swedish author Selma Lagerlof’s book released in 1891, Gösta Berlings Saga is a Swedish band which exists since 2000 and who excels in instrumental Prog-Rock. "Sersophane" is their fourth album since 2006 and demonstrates an approach to Prog-Metal, a little bit of Jazz-Rock, a sound which mixes the 'old' with the modern, and a little dark side from time to time. Surprising!

"Konstruction" starts the album: a slightly rhythmic and symphonic Prog-Rock running non-stop for three minutes. It begins well the album. "Sersophane", as rhythmic as the first song but with a different approach, also fills our ears: a little darker but all the while pleasant. With "Fort Europa" they bring in a more Psychedelic and old Rock style which remains with a Prog tendency towards a little FLOYD-like style that surprises! Effective! "Dekonstruktion" brings us back to the era of KRAUFTWERK, NEU! or TANGERINE DREAM, even VANGELIS! Full-throttle Electro and a pleasure listening! “Channeling The Sixth Extinction” is a Prog-Rock with a beat that has a bit of a dark and heavy side. It could play in an action or espionage movie. I love the way it changes its style at 05:22 to an Electro sound which tends slightly towards Psychedelic. Strange and effective! "Naturum" closes this album with a short acoustic guitar bout, a bit Medieval. A sedative after the energy which came out of the previous song!
